Spent the morning clearing plastic bottles, fishing line, and microplastics from the tide pools. Found a entangled seal pup — called the rescue center and they responded within 20 minutes. Every piece matters.

Planted 50 coast redwood saplings along the riparian corridor. These trees will sequester carbon, stabilize the stream bank, and provide shade for steelhead spawning. Big thanks to the 20 volunteers who showed up at 7am!

Great Blue Heron Nesting Survey

Observed 3 active Great Blue Heron nests in the rookery. Two had fledglings visible — approximately 2 weeks old. Water levels are healthy this year. Submitted data to eBird for conservation tracking.

Trail Restoration — Eagle Peak Loop

Re-routed 200ft of trail that was eroding into the creek. Installed water bars and a small footbridge. The old trail section has been decommissioned and revegetated with native grasses.

Monthly water sampling complete. pH at 7.8, dissolved oxygen 6.2 mg/L (slightly below optimal), turbidity elevated after last week's storm. Notified the watershed council. Full results posted to our dashboard.

Community River Cleanup at San Lorenzo

Spent the morning removing trash and debris from the San Lorenzo River. Over 50 volunteers showed up and we collected 340 lbs of waste! The river is already looking healthier.

While monitoring the wetlands, I spotted a pair of bald eagles building a nest. This is the first sighting in this area in over 15 years. Incredible to see nature recovering.
