Beach Cleanup at Half Moon Bay
Spent the morning clearing plastic bottles, fishing line, and microplastics from the tide pools. Found a entangled seal pup — called the rescue center and they responded within 20 minutes. Every piece matters.

Native Tree Planting — Redwood Restoration
Planted 50 coast redwood saplings along the riparian corridor. These trees will sequester carbon, stabilize the stream bank, and provide shade for steelhead spawning. Big thanks to the 20 volunteers who showed up at 7am!

Great Blue Heron Nesting Survey
Observed 3 active Great Blue Heron nests in the rookery. Two had fledglings visible — approximately 2 weeks old. Water levels are healthy this year. Submitted data to eBird for conservation tracking.
Cosumnes River PreserveTrail Restoration — Eagle Peak Loop
Re-routed 200ft of trail that was eroding into the creek. Installed water bars and a small footbridge. The old trail section has been decommissioned and revegetated with native grasses.

Illegal Dumping Report — Coyote Creek
Found approximately 300 lbs of construction debris dumped along the creek bank — drywall, concrete, and paint cans. Reported to county environmental health. Organizing a community cleanup this Saturday. Please DM if you can help.

Water Quality Testing — Lake Merritt
Monthly water sampling complete. pH at 7.8, dissolved oxygen 6.2 mg/L (slightly below optimal), turbidity elevated after last week's storm. Notified the watershed council. Full results posted to our dashboard.

Spent the morning removing trash and debris from the San Lorenzo River. Over 50 volunteers showed up and we collected 340 lbs of waste! The river is already looking healthier.

Planted 200 Native Oaks
Our volunteer crew planted 200 coast live oak saplings along the trail. These trees will provide habitat for local wildlife and help prevent soil erosion for decades to come.

Spotted a Bald Eagle Nest
While monitoring the wetlands, I spotted a pair of bald eagles building a nest. This is the first sighting in this area in over 15 years. Incredible to see nature recovering.

Environmental Education Workshop for Kids
Hosted a workshop teaching 30 local kids about native plants, composting, and watershed health. The next generation of environmental stewards is ready to make a difference!

Spoke at the city council meeting about banning single-use plastics on our beaches. The proposal passed unanimously. Small actions lead to big changes!
